The Glow Getter's Valentine's Day Gift Guide
Valentine’s Day, however that looks for you whether you’re married, single, etc is usually a holiday filled with many, many emotions. I can personally say mine have been hit or miss in the past and this year it falls on half-term so I’m currently in the countryside with my husband and little ones celebrating with little fanfare and just cherishing time with family. However you are celebrating, I wanted to take a moment to remind you to also make this a day about… celebrating and loving yourself.
It’s so important to ensure that the strongest relationship you have is with yourself. So while Valentine’s Day is all about cherishing one’s partner, I wanted to create a specific gift guide of products to shower yourself with some extra TLC (and of course a loved one if you’d like)!
PERFUME
1. TOM FORD - Tobacco Vanille Eau De Parum
I love this scent - it has been one of my long term favourites and both hubby and I have gone through stages of wearing it.
2. PHLUR - Apricot Privée Eau de Parum
This brand new scent is only stocked in Selfridges exclusively in the UK - after spending an afternoon soaking all the beauty hall energy I found myself at a new stop: the PHLUR counter. I really love the unique scents of this brand that are designed to replicate memories. I was particularly drawn to this scent’s fruity and floral smell. I also love that brand’s ethos of focusing on conscious and transparent ingredients for their customers. Overall highly recommend checking them out and finding the perfect scent for you!
3. Jo Malone - Wood sage and sea salt
I love the freshness of this scent - I also have it in a car diffuser… who knew they did such things…. AMAZING!!!!OR Velvet Rose Oud - which I love for the deep floral tone while also being masculine through its Oud.
One of my favourite things about all of these perfumes are that they are unisex, can easily be layered and shared with your partner. A gift for them that could just as easily be a gift for you, haha!
CANDLES
The power of scent - that rush of a fond memory, or the comfort of a smell reminding you of childhood memories - for me candles can define a place/memory/mood. I also believe they have a great way to set the mood, and keep negative enery/spirits at bay
1. Ouai Melrose Place Candle
This sleek and simple candle has a fresh velvety, sweet and floral scent. I also love the minimal aesthetic of the candle as it makes for a great gift that’ll match any decor and taste.
2. TOM FORD Fucking Fabulous candle
This is just a not so discreet reminder… haha! The hilarious name lives up to the hype as it has a truly unique scent featuring the complex aroma of clary sage and fresh lavender top notes, bitter almond and vanilla inflections infused with leather. A truly fabulous scent!
3. Overose Euphoriasme Candle
Transport yourself to a relaxing morning in Paris with this chic candle. It has a sweetness of a sugar covered warm croissant + the tartness of ripe cranberries and a splash of rose blossom water. Plus the pop of colour is a great addition to any part of your home!
4. Rize London - rize n shine candle
This new indie brand sells 100% natural candles that I am obsessed with. I found this brand at a friend’s pop-up show and was immediately drawn to the aesthetic. The unique candle holder includes a process of transferring fine art onto bone china using a silk screen printing technique. I am particularly in love with with RIZE n SHINE candle with notes of vanilla, tonic, white musk and rose. Bonus: Each candle also has its own unique Furoshiki gift wrap adding that extra touch to a lovely gift!
5. Four Seasons - Champagne Wonderland Candle
Who knew that the infamous hotel brand now sells their signature hotel scents - even if you haven’t stayed in one you can experience it! One of their dreamy scents perfect for a romantic evening at home or to enjoy by yourself is the aptly named Champagne Wonderland candle featuring notes of vanilla and lychee.
