Glowing Makeup Looks With Ariana Rose Makeup

Glowing Makeup Looks With Ariana Rose Makeup

Hello, fellow Glow Getters! I may have the knowledge and resources to create a good skincare edit for myself and friends, but when it comes to makeup… and more importantly applying makeup, I realised I am lacking a few skills. Makeup isn’t about covering your skin up, it’s about magnifying the beauty that already exists. So with that in mind, let’s dig into what I learned, what products I recommend and more.

I have full admiration for women who have taken the time to watch YouTube videos and practice doing their makeup…. I definitely should have made notes all those years in the makeup chair modeling but I didn’t. Instead, I would just relax while incredible makeup artists would create art. It was great as post-shoot I would be ready for a night out (although I’m more of a homebody and would pick a night in over a night out any day).

Anyway, so I decided to reach out to Ariana Rose Makeup who I have worked with in the past to create some fun looks, including the one in my last shoot. My homework was to find two looks I would want to work on for a couple of hours one afternoon.

The result? I chose a simple, fresh day look, nude eye, fresh slightly highlighted skin, and then an evening look, going heavier with the highlight/contour (but not overboard) and a smokey eye which would include me not having to use liquid eyeliner or eyeliner at all for that matter…I respect those who can do a flawless liner look, I just don’t have the patience!

Over the next two hours we dabbled in my current makeup collection plus some key new products I’ll highlight later on to help achieve the perfect, makeup glow.

During this time with Ariana, I realised that I always ended up buying random products that I ultimately have no clue how to use and results in a wasted product. I’m the Conscious Glow Getter, I have to do better! So by going through the basics really helped give me more of an understanding of what key products to invest in and how to more consciously use and recreate these looks.

To start, we would go step by step, always starting with the eyes. Why? Because no one wants to have to redo their foundation again because of the residue of eye makeup falling down the cheek…start with the eyes!

TIP: Use your concealer on your eye lids with a flat brush and blend in as a base for any eyeshadow, even if it’s just a simple nude. For instance, I used the highlighter part of my Charlotte Tilbury compact as eyeshadow.

As Ariana would finish one step, I would then copy it and take note of her technique. A key takeaway from this is that brushes are everything.

TIP: Good brushes don’t have to be expensive. MykitCo is a go-to brand for makeup artists and you cannot go wrong with MAC brushes.

After I would have copied the technique, we would compare each side of the face and then move onto the next step. I took some video to showcase how we slowly worked out way to the final look, head over to my stories and click the Friday Faves highlight to see!

Overall, this was a wonderful way to invest in my makeup looks today and for the future. I have a lengthy list of products to grab next time I’m in a department store’s beauty hall (I couldn’t wait and ordered some online already) and am now feeling more confident and adventurous about using makeup overall. Looking forward to sharing more products and unique looks to come!

And now, for the products!

1. A Good Quality Foundation Brush - I would 100% suggest the MYKITCO 0.18 - My Stippling Foundation Brush. Use it by applying some product to the back of your hand. Then dip the tip of the brush gently into the foundation and then with circular motions apply the product.

TIP: Start with a small amount of product so you can build upon rather than slapping on too much product in the beginning. I have made this mistake many times!!

2. A Skin Suiting Foundation - You want a foundation that suits your skin tone but also the look you’re going for. Whether that’s more subtle day looks or fuller coverage for evenings, think about how much coverage you want. Find a brand that you like and choose a coverage level from there. My fav is MZ SKIN’s Tint & Protect that provides light coverage + SPF!

3. A Natural Highlighter - I am obsessed with the HOURGLASS Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick, especially in colour Champagne Flash. Just lightly swipe it above your cheekbones in slight soft circular motions. Follow this with blush (I never knew this!). For my look I used the iconic Orgasm NARS Blush.

4. An Eye-Popping Mascara - For a day look I would suggest BY TERRY Lash Growth Mascara. After having lash extensions for over 3 years I was in need of a powerful mascara which would also help my lashes recover and grow.

5. A Beautiful Eyeshadow Palette - All beauty lovers know that there is something magical about opening an eye shadow palette and the feeling of so many looks to discover! I prefer to use browns/nudes even with a smokey eye, the ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette. It has an amazing range of colours that can take me from a simple everyday nude to a fun smokey eye by night.

Overall, I had so much fun having a 1:1 tutorial and playing around with makeup. It was truly so much fun, I realized I really didn’t give myself enough time to experiment and grateful taking some time with Ariana to learn more. I am going to make a conscious effort to spend more time creating looks and using the products I have invested in rather than have them gather dust on my makeup station.

I highly recommend scheduling a session with Ariana as a gift for friends and family or just a fun girls’ night in. I’m just a DM away to answer any and all questions!
